Demolition projects give Shorts Group a strong start to 2008
May 2008
Despite of reports of uncertain times within the property market, the start of 2008 proved a strong one for the Demolition Department within Shorts Group. Tackling a variety of large industrial buildings and house projects as always, Shorts Group has expanded its client base to include several well-known and respected companies the most recent of which being Barrett Homes.
The Demolition Department at Shorts Group is off to a busy start in 2008, going from strength to strength.
To list one example of works in January – we were tasked with the demolition and clearing of an old Met office tracking station which had previously been an MOD tracking station during the second world war, complete with a firing range and golf course! For ecological reasons, we had to import over 100 loads of acidic soil to fill the voids left from the old roadways and buildings. This would allow the natural heath flora and fauna to cover these areas.
Managing Director, Gary Short, said of the operation:
“We knew from the start that the old Met buildings would be an interesting job – and one that we had to get right with the ecological pressures. With our strong record in environmentally sensitive demolition, we knew we had the right people and the tools to do the high standard a job of this nature required, and I’m very pleased to say that we did just that. And as always, we managed the works on time and on budget.”
Never one to rest on its laurels, Shorts Group has also been active for a number of years in working with such prestigious estates like St Georges Hill, Burwood Park and Wentworth Estate, working with several market leaders in the luxury home building industry.
As ever expansion is key, to which the Shorts Group has been greatly helped in its work through the addition of two new 8-wheel tippers. The extra lorries were added to ensure that even with a busy project schedule, the company could continue to deliver the level of quality upon which it had built its reputation.
